THE INSTITUTION

Sacred Heart Degree College, Sitapur, founded in 1998 is a self financed degree college of minority nature in accordance with the provisions of Article 30(1) of the Constitution of India (Rights of Minorities to establish and administer educational institutions) and affiliated to the University of Lucknow. Sacred Heart Degree College is one of the leading colleges of University of Lucknow and enjoys a rare social accreditation in recognition of her earnest efforts to impart value based education while upgrading herself constantly to address the ever changing demands of the Education sector. The founder of the college Rev. Fr. Gerard Perazzini OFM (Cap) was a zealous Italian missionary and an educational visionary who served his life for the uplift of the under privileged people of Sitapur and other parts of U.P. Sacred Heart Degree College provides quality education to the youth of Sitapur and other parts of U.P as well as other states of India by imparting a healthy and peaceful atmosphere of intellectual and distinctive formation. The College aims to mould the student community from every sections of the society into better individuals, and guide them to contribute constructively towards national goals by upholding the values of secularism, national integration and social commitment.
The management of the college is vested with the Catholic Diocese of Lucknow (Reg. society), which in turn has entrusted the running of the college to the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI) Fathers of St. John’s Province, Bijnor. The Carmelites of Mary Immaculate, a religious congregation founded in 1831 at Mannaam in Kerala by Saint Kuriakose Elias Chavara, is a spiritual movement with social commitment in education, health and other fields of human interaction. The CMIs run 300 education institutions which include engineering, technical, medical, management, social, and arts & science colleges apart from hospitals/health centres (48), social/rural development centres (162), cultural/communication centres (21) and publishing/printing houses (49) as part of its mission.
